CRYO-S Painless in post-stroke spasticity

Revolutionizing Pain and Spasticity Management through Precision Cryoneurolysis

CRYO-S Painless — Advanced Cryoneurolysis for Post-Stroke Spasticity

CRYO-S Painless is a next-generation medical device designed for safe and effective cryoneurolysis — a modern technique that uses controlled cold temperatures to interrupt pain and spasticity signals. It is trusted by neurologists, rehabilitation specialists, anesthesiologists, and physiotherapists for the treatment of post-stroke muscle stiffness and nerve-related pain.

Cryoneurolysis – better quality of life after stroke.

A method of immediately turning off increased muscle tension without permanently damaging the nerve.

Advantages of cryoanalgesia

  • Cryoneolysis can be used for sensory, mixed and motor nerves responsible for dystonia, increased muscle tension with often accompanying pain symptoms.
  • Cryoneurolysis allows for the simultaneous treatment of many more muscles, including all muscles from the nerve stem, compared to other chemical neurolysis techniques.
  • Cryoneurolysis destroys only the part of the nerve responsible for transmitting the sensorimotor impulse. It spares adjacent tissues, blood vessel and does not cause the risk of thrombosis compared to chemical neurolyses.
  • Cryoneurolysis spares the nerve sheath and allows the nerve to regenerate – it does not form a neuroma, it does not cause secondary pain.
  • Cryoneurolysis works immediately. Already during its performance, the muscles relax. There is no need for another follow-up visit to be sure of the effect of the treatment. The patient can immediately start the rehabilitation process.
  • Cryoneurolysis is an ideal method for ultrasound-guided performance. The location of the nerve can be confirmed using the same neurostimulation probe, and the visible ice zone during freezing reassures the doctor of the correct location of the probe in relation to the nerve.
  • Cryoneurolysis can be repeated any number of times. The effectiveness depends on the degree of spasticity. Positive effects are obtained between 6 to 8 months after one treatment session.

Application of cryoneurolysis

Cryoneurolysis is a minimally invasive procedure performed under ultrasound guidance, under local anesthesia. It is used to improve the quality of life of patients, reduce pain and accelerate the rehabilitation process. This procedure is most often used in patients after stroke. It is increasingly being used in other symptoms of neurological diseases that are caused by damage to the central nervous system, resulting in spasticity affecting the deterioration of the patient’s functioning and social exclusion.

The thinnest cryoprobes for neurostimulation and cryoneurolysis in the same approach to nerves.

We offer both disposable and reusable, easy to sterilize (with steam) probes. The special and patented design allows precise freezing and quick defrosting. The shape of the probe and the different designs of the freezing parts make it possible to freeze nerves regardless of their location and diameter.

CRYO-S Painless provides immediate visible reduction in spasticity, allowing both the clinician and patient to see the effect during the procedure without waiting for follow-up assessments.

The treatment is minimally invasive and safe, requiring only a small entry point and ultrasound guidance, with no surgical incision or complex recovery process.

Unlike chemical neurolysis, the procedure carries no risk of thrombosis, making it safer for patients with vascular conditions or those on anticoagulant therapy.

CRYO-S Painless preserves the nerve sheath, preventing neuroma formation and reducing the chance of secondary nerve pain after treatment.

The results are long-lasting, typically 6 to 8 months, and the procedure can be repeated safely without damaging the nerve or surrounding tissue.

It is suitable for sensory, motor, and mixed nerves, offering flexibility to treat a wide range of spasticity-related symptoms.

Multiple muscles can be treated in a single session, improving clinical efficiency and supporting faster rehabilitation progress.

CRYO-S Painless

Easy mode switching

Probe mode selection, cleaning and freezing can be performed automatically via a foot switch or a convenient touchscreen, allowing the treatment site to be kept in sterile conditions.

RFiD

RFiD – electronic communication between the probe and the device allows for the recognition of optimal operating parameters and automatic configuration to the characteristics of the cryoprobe. The gas pressure and flow are set automatically, and manual adjustment is not necessary.

Automated Testing System

It is equipped with an automatic probe testing system and two freezing modes (continuous and sequential). The probe testing system includes automatic cleaning and short freezing test.

Voice communication

Built-in voice communication makes the work easier. A system informing about key data during the procedure.

Safe freezing

Built-in diagnostic nerve stimulation helps distinguish between sensory and motor nerves. This prevents the motor nerves from accidentally freezing.

Two working mediums

The working medium for CRYO-S Painless is carbon dioxide CO2 (-78°C) or nitrous oxide N2O (-89°C), very efficient and easy-to-use gases.

Cryoprobes

Precision

The working part of the probe is adapted to the shape and size of the nerves.

Use

Ideal for VATS, thoracotomy, sternotomy and open surgery.

Safety

Hits the target. It freezes only where we want.

Ergonomics

The lightest and thinnest probe, without the need to bend, allows you to freely perform even a dozen or so freezing operations.

User-friendly interface

CRYO-S Painless is controlled by a microprocessor. Automatic flow calibration and keeping the temperature as low as possible does not involve surgeon. Just select the treatment time and press start.

Post-stroke spasticity

CRYO-S PAINLESS, the most modern cryosurgical device manufactured by METRUM CRYOFLEX, is a new generation device used by many experts in the field since 1992.
