Precision Periodontal Care. Faster Healing. Long-Term Oral Health
Restore Healthy Gums with SurgiPartner Advanced Gum Surgery
Gum Surgery in Hyderabad — Expert Periodontal Treatment
Gum Surgery, also known as periodontal surgery, is an advanced dental procedure designed to treat severe gum disease, gum recession, bone loss, and infected gum tissues. When non-surgical treatments like deep cleaning fail to control gum infection, surgical intervention becomes essential to protect teeth and restore oral health.
At SurgiPartner, we offer advanced and best gum surgery in Hyderabad using laser-assisted techniques, minimally invasive periodontal procedures, and regenerative therapies to ensure effective treatment with faster healing and long-term results.

What Is Gum Disease? — Stages and Progression
1. Periodontal Flap Surgery (Open Flap Debridement)
The most commonly performed gum surgery for moderate to severe periodontitis. Local anaesthesia is administered. A small incision is made in the gum to create a “flap” that is gently lifted away from the tooth root and bone, exposing the root surface and underlying bone defects. All calculus (tartar) and infected tissue is meticulously removed from the root surface under direct vision — impossible to achieve with non-surgical scaling alone in deep pockets. The flap is repositioned and sutured. Healing allows the gum to reattach to the clean root surface at a healthier level.
2. Guided Tissue Regeneration (GTR)
Combined with flap surgery for selected bone defects — a biocompatible membrane and/or bone graft material is placed in the bone defect to guide new bone and periodontal ligament growth, partially regenerating the lost supporting structures. GTR is a specialised procedure performed by SurgiPartner’s periodontists for angular (vertical) bone defects where regeneration potential is highest.
3. Gingival Graft (Connective Tissue Graft)
For patients with gum recession — exposure of the tooth root due to gum tissue loss. A small amount of connective tissue is taken from the patient’s palate (roof of mouth) and grafted over the exposed root surface of the receding area. This permanently covers exposed roots, eliminates root sensitivity, prevents further recession, and improves aesthetics. The palatal donor site heals fully within 2–3 weeks.
4. Crown Lengthening Surgery
Removes excess gum tissue and/or bone to expose more of the tooth crown — required before placing a crown on a tooth with insufficient tooth structure above the gumline (to create 2mm of biological width). Also performed cosmetically for a “gummy smile” — where excessive gum display makes teeth appear short. Results in better-proportioned, more aesthetic tooth-to-gum relationship.
5. Gingivoplasty / Gum Contouring
Reshaping of the gum line for aesthetic purposes — correcting uneven, asymmetric, or excessive gum display that affects smile aesthetics. Can be performed with a laser (diode laser gingivoplasty) for minimal bleeding and rapid healing, or with a scalpel. Frequently combined with veneer or smile design treatment.
Frequently Asked Questions — Gum Surgery Hyderabad
Gum surgery (periodontal surgery) encompasses surgical procedures to treat advanced gum disease, regenerate lost supporting bone, cover exposed tooth roots (gum graft), or reshape the gum line (crown lengthening, gingivoplasty). The most common type is periodontal flap surgery — lifting the gum to clean deep pockets and root surfaces that cannot be reached with non-surgical scaling in moderate to severe periodontitis.
Non-surgical periodontal treatment (scaling & root planing) for mild to moderate disease: 2–4 appointments over 2–4 weeks (treating one quadrant at a time under local anaesthesia). Surgical treatment for moderate to severe disease: 1–4 surgical sessions depending on the number of affected areas. Maintenance therapy: 3–4 monthly professional cleaning for the first 1–2 years after surgery, then 6-monthly thereafter. Periodontal maintenance is lifelong — gum disease can recur if maintenance is neglected.
